For me it has seemed to always been difficult fitting in. I'm supposed to be smart, and perhaps I am intellectually; figuring stuff out and solving problems and all that has never struck me as particularly frustrating or woeful, however the minds of people in general baffle me. It always seems that what I say is never the right thing to say, and whenever I try to say something everyone thinks I mean or imply something else. I've never understood the subtleties of human communication, and I come off, even to myself, awkward and slightly strange. When introduced into an unfamiliar social situation, I tend to reserve myself and become inordinately shy, buffering myself with either silence or my intelligence, which usually manifests itself in big words that only further isolate me from the people around me. Even here I am reluctant to reveal my full name because of my particular and possibly introverted ways. My shyness and awkwardness becomes especially prevalent when I am confronted by the opposite sex, especially those to whom I am attracted in a more physical manner. I withdraw, much like a turtle in a shell, and present a cold front to those with whom I would most like to spend time. However, I have found something within the amalgamous stew of social graces which I find worth mentioning; whenever I am in a situation which presents a disassosciation with my day to day life, say, perhaps, a situation where whatever I do or say within the limits of reason will have little or no effect on the rest of my life or other social interactions, I tend to relax and loosen up a little, and to actually perform more as a normal human being. Now, I hope you don't get an image of me similar to that of Lars in Lars and the Real Girl, because I am not delusional and can function perfectly well in most situations. However, it seems that I can be incorrectly juxtaposed within certain situations which cause me to seem awkward or strange. however I feel that again I am using my big words again. I really do not enjoy it, it makes people dislike me purely because they feel I am talking down to them, and I truly have no intention of offending anyone ever. I just seems that I would use the phrases much the same way an adolescent would unthinkingly use the terms 'um' and 'like' multiple times within a sentence without consciously realizingly they had said either at all. Anyway, 'til next time,
Matt.

ps.

p.s. This is my first post and so I want to say welcome. As you might already have guessed, I don't really have anything specific I want to say here, no point to get across, no cause to fight for. I just kinda want to talk about the things that are going on in general. Like points and causes and fights. Anyway in a word I'm gonna talk about stuff. So good luck reading my blog, and I hope I don't make it too unbearable.
Anyway today I think I want to talk about movies. First, I think they are getting progressively worse. With more and better graphics directors and all of them who make the movies are more or less giving up on the plot. Which is bad. Now instead of actually doing something with the movie they are either filling it up with sex scenes, gunfights, and drugs, or just making it stupid. None of these are bad but if i wanted to watch porn and death I could just come online! And if I wanted to watch someone light up I could just go into the city and walk through some dark alleys. Anyway like for example the other day I went to watch Pineapple Express. It was an ok movie but had several of the things I'm talking about. First, the entire premise was drugs and gunfights, and second, it had no serious plot or point. There was no thought in it, nothing to make it more than some guys shooting and smoking and being dumb. Now I'm not saying all the movies are like this, but most are. For example, one (semi) recent movie I have seen was Bank Job. Not only was the plot tangible, it was complex and extremely well developed, always keeping me involved. It also had sex and guns(which can be good btw) but not in excess. However, I think good movies like Bank Job are the exception that makes the rule.
Also, today, I wanted to talk about the giant sports phenomenon thats recaptured the world (again); the Olympics. Unless you live under a rock under the ground under the ocean, I'm pretty sure you have heard of the Olympics. If you haven't, then you definitely haven't heard of stuffactory, so your probably not reading this. Anyway, the US and China are leading, followed by some of the other wealthy/enormous countries. What I want to focus on, however, are the little things that go unnoticed by althose undoubtedly rooting for their country. Take, for example, that country that only had one athlete make it to the Olympics. That guy got me thinking a bit. You know, he is probably a hero in his country, and if he wins a gold medal he will be more than a hero, he will be exalted as a figure of near mythical status. While I was ruminating on this man's fate and his repose within his own country, I was interrupted by the announcer stating how he would probably never get a medal. This made me mad to no end. I mean, this man probably worked his ass off in terrible conditions with limited resources and mediocre equipment, and to compete at the Olympics is the high point of his life. To have some upper class American announcer so nonchalantly dismiss the fruition of this man's dream strikes me as so pompous, so arrogant, so WRONG that I feel like screaming. Anyways, I digress. I really mean to speak well of the Olympics. Like the other day I was watching the swimmers perform. They were swimming the butterfly 200m, and I was beyond aghast with their speeds. When I was younger I performed on the swimteam. I remember looking on the large board of record swim times and marveling at how some swimmers could do the 50m butterfly in under 40 seconds. Watching these athletes finish the first 100m, I saw their times at appr. 30 seconds. It was truly unbelievable.
Anyway, I believe it is time to end for this week. Here are four of the topics I might include next week. I will choose the top 2. vote on your choice.
1.Complain about how long commercial breaks are on TV.
2.Talk About the election candidates
3.Talk about some good books/movies/tv shows
4.Is technology good or bad?

cya next week!
